Here we are in 2024, having survived a pandemic, and some, like myself, having survived the death of loved ones, or even major health crises of our own. But this site is about new beginnings … turning 65, I realize that I am nearing the end of my own existence, and want to share some of my experiences, from a photographer’s perspective, with the rest of the world.
I recently heard an artist say, and I am paraphrasing here, “I am not making art for them. I am not making something just because I think it is something that someone else is going to like. I am making it for me.” The artist went on to say, that art is almost like a diary entry. A diary entry has nothing to do with anyone else, because even if they say ‘I don’t like your diary entry,’ will it really matters.
Having said that, I do hope you enjoy me images, and find something that resonates with you on some deeper level. Most of these images come from a period between 2010 and 2018, when my health declined to the point of needing to take a break from almost anything physical. As such, I have been away from photography for a while now, but will be working on new material in the coming years, the fates willing. Also feel free to reach out if you have questions about a particular piece, and I will be happy to share whatever information I can.
